My name is Kevin Mikuls, and I am 15 year old. I live in Omaha, Nebraska, and I am a sophomore at Creighton Preparatory High School. I have 1 sister, Mary, and two brothers, Joey and Jack. We're all here on this earth because of our loving parents, Greg and Janie Mikuls.
For me, going to Prep as a freshman wasn't a choice. I had watched both my brothers come here, and I only heard good things about it. I had always wanted to come here, and I barely even considered any other schools. My parents urged me to check out other schools, but I'm glad I didn't even give other schools a chance.
My life basically revolves around musical theater. I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "Wow. We're about to get a full story about how much this person thinks they're amazing at singing and dancing." Well, you're basically right. I got started in theater in 7th grade when a classmate mentioned that she would be trying out for Peter Pan at The Rose Theater. I auditioned and got a small part in the Pirate Ensemble. Ever since, I've made musical theater a vital part of my life. I have done 9 shows since 7th grade now, and I can't imagine not doing it.
I tried very hard not to become a weird "theater kid." I tried to avoid all the other kids who were in shows I was in. Despite my efforts, I have become one of them, and most of my friends are people who I do shows with. It isn't a very odd thing for that to happen, though. You are thrown into an area with people you don't know, and you have to work together everyday for months. It is inevitable that you will grow close to them. Doing theater is what I love, and I'm extremely glad I chose to be a "weird theater kid."
